In May 2026, it's that time again: Austria will become the largest stage for international musical entertainment as the Eurovision Song Contest celebrates its 70th anniversary in Vienna. Therefore, ORF is looking for up to 800 volunteers to support this mega event and get a behind-the-scenes look. All interested parties can now register online as volunteers at songcontest.ORF.at.

In 2026, the ESC will once again be under the motto „United By Music.“ For this festival of music, motivated, environmentally conscious, enthusiastic, friendly, and empathetic people are being sought. To volunteer at the Eurovision Song Contest, the following requirements apply:

  • Legal age at the time of registration
  • Good German and English skills; additional languages are an advantage
  • Participation in at least one casting
  • Availability in Vienna between 27 April and 17 May 2026

Michael Krön, Executive Producer of ESC 2026: „Our volunteers will represent the Eurovision Song Contest with great dedication and warmth and are important points of contact for our guests. The ESC in particular stands for diversity and lived inclusion, and we want to make this spirit visible with our volunteers. We are therefore looking forward to registrations from all nations, in all languages, and from all age groups - provided they are of legal age - and to creating a unique atmosphere together.“

Video registration now possible for those interested at songcontest.ORF.at

Starting today, 1 December, interested individuals can apply for the selection process for one of the 800 sought‑after spots with a video and a CV. This is made possible through a cooperation between ORF and the young start‑up nurdu, which aims to create new opportunities with a video tool.

Jan‑Peter Ruhso, CEO of nurdu: “nurdu is an innovative platform that offers people of all ages a personal and easy way to present themselves through short selfie videos and to showcase potential beyond traditional CVs. For ORF, nurdu opens up a direct access to committed volunteers who convince with authenticity and motivation, making them an ideal fit for the team spirit of the Eurovision Song Contest."

For the first round, either a computer with a webcam and microphone or a smartphone or tablet (with camera and voice recording function) is required. All those seeking a supportive role on a voluntary basis will be asked three questions and have up to 60 seconds per question to answer. The video responses can be recorded directly via the web browser or in the app, or uploaded as a file. The online form is open until January 28, 2026, 11:59 PM, and can be found on the official ESC homepage at songcontest.ORF.at. Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about volunteering are also answered there.

Various support areas

All applicants who convince with their video and CV in the first round will be invited to a personal casting. There, candidates will demonstrate their language skills and have their photo taken for personal accreditation. During the casting conversation, the aim is to find a suitable area of responsibility together. Candidates from abroad are asked to come to Vienna for the casting on 15 March 2026.

Whether creative, organizational, or communicative – you can register for the following areas:

- Guest & Delegation
Services Support for accredited persons (e.g., Welcome Desk, Delegation Hosts)

- Audience & Public Interaction
Information dissemination, audience support (e.g., Eurovision Village, Euroclub)

- Operations & Venue

With their commitment and positive spirit, volunteers make an important contribution to the success of this mega-event.

Former ESC volunteers share their experiences

Astrid Roth (53) fulfilled her wish in 2015 to look behind the scenes of the world’s biggest music event. “The atmosphere among the volunteers was unique! We all had a common goal: to give everyone involved an unforgettable experience.”

“I especially appreciated the positive conversations with fans and delegations, and we received praise for Vienna’s unique hospitality,” says Verena Pölzler (31), recommending to all interested, “Don’t think twice – just apply!”
